Blog Entryday 2 :: the trip to the self-service laundromatMar 17, '08 8:42 AM
for everyone

I had plans to spend Friday nights in the laundromat--the self-service and coin-operated type I saw along the stretch of Escario in Cebu. Seeing myself with a bag filled with dirty clothes on one hand and a book on the other had been a spool of film rolling inside my head. It turned out it was rather expensive. I scrapped the idea and did the handwashing myself, at home.

Last night, here in Valencia, at the back of the house, I finally had it--the drop-your-dirty-clothes and put-in-the-detergent and press the start button and let-the-machine-do-everything-for-you. Half an hour later, it was ready for hanging, less the drip. I smiled secretly at the service area whilst picking the empty laundry basket. Shhhh. First time! hahaha.

After lunch, my colleague M and I went to National Bookstore near the Silliman U. portal to get a copy of The Kite Runner (after I watched the movie last week) and spend the rest of the warm afternoon in Cafe Antonio for her caffeine fix. By five, back in Valencia, my good friend E dropped by for some good conversation. As I write this, another friend A, already called up and will meet me round the bend. There's a hint that I will gatecrash a family party next block.

By eleven, I have to be home and throw in today's batch of laundry. I can't seem to get over yet with the smell of fresh linens and the no-wet and no-sweat machine. I'll be back~

not really. I'm enjoying this routine for now. Besides, there are plenty of vacant slots in the sked. hehehe. For the record, the reason why I won't go for the drop-today-and-pick-up-tom. is the fear of losing a favorite boxer shorts or pair of jeans or shirt. yay! hahaha

the rates are cheaper in manila because every corner has a laundromat! haha! parang 20-25 bucks/kilo for wash, press and fold. my fave laundromat in cebu charges for 45 bucks/kilo for wash, press and fold.
